The ongoing strike by the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Bayelsa State Wing, has brought academic activities in public primary and secondary schools in the state to a halt. Members of the union recently decided to go on strike to protest their unpaid salary arrears. Although primary school teachers have been paid eight months’ salaries, their colleagues in secondary schools are still being owed salary arrears for four and half months.
